James F. Knott Construction, LLC
Originally founded
in 1977 as the construction arm of the James F. Knott Realty Group,
James F. Knott Construction Companys first project was a single
family residential community. A second residential community on
nearly 260 acres, completed by construction company employees, is
home to more than 1,200 town homes, 366 apartments, a health club
and outdoor volleyball and tennis courts.
Now, more almost
three decades later, the construction company has completed over
3,500,000 square feet of industrial buildings, numerous schools,
office buildings and municipal structures. The James F. Knott Construction
Company forces also completed construction of the 98,000 square
foot Denton Shopping Plaza and the Beechtree Golf Club. In 1999,
the Beechtree Clubhouse received 5 of 21 Building Congress &
Exchange awards for outstanding craftsmanship. In 2001 James F.
Knott Realty Group's headquarters building received a Craftsmanship
Award for the outstanding masonry which characterizes all of Knott's
buildings.
Incorporated
as a separate entity in 1990, The James F. Knott Construction Company
considers its sister development company to be one of its best customers,
but not the only one. Work for outside owners has included construction
projects for the Church of the Ascension, the LDS Church, St. Philip
Neri, The Catholic Review, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory,
University of Maryland Sports Medicine, John Carroll and Roland
Park Country Schools, Random House, Prince Georges County
Detention Center, the City of Takoma Park, Howard County, The Montgomery
County School System, Harford Community College, plus many more.
